The graduate program at VCU Engineering gives you the opportunity to bridge undergraduate and career experiences by working on cutting-edge research in a unique interdisciplinary environment. Our faculty and students are connected with colleagues across the globe who share our vision of interdisciplinary research and discovery. VCU Engineering has an active graduate student association where students build social connections and academic/professional networks through seminars, workshops and social events.

Situated in Richmond, Virginia, a destination for industry, arts and culture Richmond, our graduate program welcomes students from around the world. The students in our M.S. and Ph.D. programs represent more than 20 countries from five continents. At the same time, our program is small, collegial and has a family atmosphere.

Engineering, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.)

The goal of the Ph.D. in Engineering degree program is to provide graduate students with learning opportunities for acquiring a broad foundation of engineering knowledge; an in-depth original research experience at the frontiers of engineering; and skills for lifelong learning and professional development. Graduates of this program will pursue careers in research and development or academia.

Engineering, Master of Science (M.S.)

The goal of the M.S. in Engineering degree program is to provide graduate students with learning opportunities for acquiring a broad foundation of engineering knowledge including business and manufacturing aspects; an in-depth research experience at the frontiers of engineering; and skills for lifelong learning and professional development. Graduates of this program will pursue careers in business/industry and government, or will pursue doctoral degrees.
