Outside Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are administered by outside organizations and are not managed by VCU or the VCU College of Engineering. We cannot respond to questions regarding these scholarships.  Please direct any questions to the scholarship granting organization.

AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) Foundation Scholarships


American Muscle Automotive Scholarship

  • Basic Eligibility:
    1. Only students currently enrolled full-time in an American college, technical institute, or high school seniors planning to attend a college or post-secondary institution are eligible to be awarded a scholarship through this program.
    2. AmericanMuscle Student Scholarships are non-renewable, however, winning applicants may re-enter in future contests by writing and resubmitting a new essay. Only one essay per student, per semester is allowed.
    3. Scholarships are restricted to those students pursuing an automotive degree or related field of study.


Anthony Ihedoha Anaebere Memorial Scholarship

  • Basic Eligibility:
    1. Nigerian-born -or- first generation Nigerian-American student
    2. Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level engineering degree at an accredited college/university in the United States of America.


ASHRAE Scholarship

  • Basic Eligibility:
    1. Full-time enrollment in an accredited undergraduate engineering or engineering technology program recognized by ASHRAE and listed for each scholarship.
    2. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest and/or a class ranking of no less than 30% evidenced by submission of an official transcript of grades and/or statement from a school administrator


Best Security Place Scholarship

    1. Must be a graduate of a public or accredited private high school
    2. Must be a student in at a US-based college or university, residing in US
    3. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

    1. To qualify, undergraduate or graduate students must be majoring in a STEM field of study and attending an accredited college or university.


Capital Auto Auction STEM Scholarship

To help provide more individuals with the opportunity to get a solid education, Capital Auto Auction is awarding a scholarship to support students pursuing STEM-related degrees.

Department of Defense SMART Scholarship

  • Basic Eligibility:
    1. a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or United Kingdom at time of application,
    2. 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2019
    3. able to participate in summer internships at a DoD facility,
    4. willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD,
    5. a student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
    6. pursuing a technical undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the disciplines listed on the About SMART page.


NCWIT Collegiate Award

  • Basic Eligibility:
    1. Any U.S. woman is eligible to apply, if she also meets all of the following criteria:
      1. She is a high school graduate.
      2. She is a member of the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Community.
      3. She is currently enrolled as an undergraduate (at a two- or four-year institution) or a graduate student pursuing a degree in computer science or a related degree program* at an NCWIT Academic Alliance (AA) member institution. (View the full list of AA member institutions.)
      4. She is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who resides in the U.S. or is a U.S. citizen residing in Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or on a U.S. overseas military base.
      5. She has a valid U.S. Social Security or Tax Identification number.
      6. She will be 18 years of age or older by May 1, 2019.
      7. She is not an NCWIT employee and has no immediate family relationship with employees, extended staff, contractors or board members of NCWIT (including spouses, siblings, children, grandchildren, and persons residing in the same household).
