Rehabilitation Technology and Haptics Lab

Welcome to the Rehabilitation Technology and Haptics Laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University.

We are located on the Monroe Park Campus at VCU. East Hall Rms 1263-1265.

We will be moving on October 11th to: the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park – BioTech Eight 737 N. 5th St.

Our main focus is developing assistive technology for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, particularly providing more effective access to tactile graphics, print information, highly visual software environments and the exploration of functional spaces. Additional areas of focus are in the development of hand prostheses, particularly control algorithms and tactile feedback for dexterous tasks; situational awareness for emergency personnel; and basic haptic research. Projects involve hardware and/or software development, as well as user testing.
