P. Worth Longest, Ph.D., appointed to editorial board of the 'Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery'

Richmond, VA (April 6, 2017) - P. Worth Longest, Ph.D., professor of mechanical engineering, has been appointed to the editorial board of the Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery (JAMPDD). Longest’s research focuses on medical aerosols, pharmaceutical engineering, targeted therapeutics, medical devices and computational fluid dynamics. He is a frequent contributor and reviewer for JAMPDD, which is the primary source of information and expertise in aerosol medicine, inhalation, and drug delivery for pharmaceutical developers and specialists.

"This is a prestigious appointment and recognizes Dr. Longest's professional accomplishments and leadership position in the field," said Gary Tepper, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.

Longest said that he expects his high frequency of review work for the journal to continue during his term on the editorial board. He looks forward to this opportunity for more frequent interactions with the JAMPDD editorial board, whose members include the nation's leading investigators in health effects of inhaled aerosols and delivery of drugs through the pulmonary system. Noting that the JAMPDD’s conference association is “a good combination of academic, industry and regulatory agency specialists,” Longest said that this appointment may also represent expanded collaboration and employment opportunities for VCU School of Engineering graduates.

Longest has been a full professor of mechanical engineering at VCU since 2012 and is also a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biomedical Engineers.
