Students graduating in the top 10 percent of their high school classes receive guaranteed admission to VCU Engineering

VCU College of Engineering guarantees acceptance for all graduating high school seniors who rank in the top 10 percent of their classes and are degree-seeking, first-year students applying for the first time.

“Employers tell us that VCU Engineering students exhibit grit, resilience and the ability to provide solutions to problems based on sound engineering principles,” said Barbara D. Boyan, Ph.D., Alice T. and William H. Goodwin, Jr. Dean of the College of Engineering.  “We believe that being in the top 10 percent of graduating seniors demonstrates grit, resilience and problem solving skills. VCU provides an environment that encourages innovation and creativity, which stimulates students to develop the skills needed to make sound engineering judgements.”

Students wishing to study engineering or computer science at VCU will be automatically accepted, as long as their transcripts or other official documents show a class rank in the top 10 percent. This opportunity also applies to out-of-state and international students.

Applications for the 2020-21 academic year are being accepted through Jan. 15, 2020.
