Cydney Dennis wins SREB award

Cydney Dennis, a biomedical engineering doctoral student, has won an Institutional Award through the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Doctoral Scholars Program.

The award, for scholars in the first year of their Ph.D. studies, provides three years of support. The SREB program supports underrepresented minority students seeking to become college or university professors.

Dennis’ research interests are in bone and tissue regeneration. She has been studying bone diseases such as osteogenesis imperfecta and osteoarthritis. Her adviser is Barbara D. Boyan, Ph.D., Alice T. and William H. Goodwin Jr. Dean of the College of Engineering.

“I would like to thank Dr. Gregory Triplett for his help,” Dennis said. “I would not have received this award without his support and guidance.”
