Dr. Satinder Gill is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science and a Product Development Scientist at Virginia Commonwealth University. He earned his Bachelor’s (2006) and Master’s (2009) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, followed by a Ph.D. (2015) in the same field from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada.
Since 2014, Dr. Gill has taught a wide range of courses across engineering, computer science, and data analytics, reflecting his broad expertise and commitment to preparing students with interdisciplinary skills. After completing his doctoral studies, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at UNB, where he specialized in the design and development of smart technologies as part of the Proactive Health Monitoring Program. His research spans the development of innovative biomedical devices, artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven analysis aimed at improving health outcomes and quality of life. He has focused on preventive care solutions for older adults and individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI), while more recently concentrating on assistive technologies for blind and visually impaired users. By combining device innovation, AI, and data analytics, his work advances accessibility, adaptability, and personalized care in biomedical and computing systems.
