The Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers tracks in the Master of Science in Engineering and the Ph.D. in Engineering programs. The tracks are designed to prepare students for practice, research and/or teaching of electrical and computer engineering at the advanced level by providing intensive preparation for professional practice in the Micro/nano-electronics, Photonics, Power, Energy and Controls Engineering, Signal Processing and Communications, and Computer Architecture and CyberPhysical Systems aspects of electrical and computer engineering.

Electrical and computer engineering concentration
The Master of Science in Engineering with a concentration in electrical and computer engineering allows you to advance your engineering skills and focus your experience in areas like: computer and cyber-physical systems; medical device design and implementation; sustainable energy systems; communications; modeling; data analytics; electromagnetics; or micro- and nano-electronics.
Systems engineering concentration
The Mast of Science in Engineering with a concentration in systems engineering allows you to lead interdisciplinary teams in the design and development of complex systems. Our program offers special emphasis on developing a technological foundation; providing you graduate coursework within electrical, computer, biomedical, mechanical, nuclear, chemical and life science engineering, computer science and business.
Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering with a concentration in electrical and computer engineering program provides students with a broad foundation in electrical and computer engineering, advanced research experience, and skills for lifelong learning. Graduates develop strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for careers in academia, industry, and research.
