The VCU College of Engineering hosted an in-person graduation celebration for students on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 6 p.m. at the Altria Theater.
Graduating students, who will be required to wear a cap and gown, will walk across the stage. Professional photography services will be available.

VCU Engineering’s graduation ceremony will be held at the Altria Theater (6 N Laurel St., Richmond, VA 23220) across the street from Monroe Park.
Graduates should plan to arrive between 4:45 and 5:00 PM. You do not need a ticket for yourself, only your guests need tickets.
No, the Main Street deck will be open, for a fee, for parking. Street parking is also available on a first come, first serve basis.
Graduates will enter through the stage door, which is off of the parking lot just beyond the box office on Main St. Be prepared to go through a security check when you enter.
Guests can begin entering Altria Theater at 5:00 PM.
The ceremony will be about 2 hours.
All graduates will be recognized individually as they cross the stage. If you did not fill out a name reader card, please be prepared to do so when you arrive at the Altria Theater.
Professional pictures will be taken by Grad Images. A proof will be sent to you through email and you can elect to purchase it at that time. Additionally, Engineering West Hall will have a backdrop available for you to take pictures. The backdrop will be located on the 1st floor.
Yes, this is an important day and you should plan to attend. The ceremony will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Richmond Convention Center. You need to arrive no later than 8:30 AM for lineup.
The degree conferral date will be May 17, 2025, however, degrees will post to your transcript on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Diplomas will be mailed beginning on or after June 30, 2025. Remember to clear any hold that you might have. You will not receive your diploma until all holds have been cleared. If your address has changed since applying for graduation, please notify the graduation office at graduation@vcu.edu with updated information.
