ACM-SC is a self-governing student organization in the Department of Computer Science. Our main purpose is to build a strong coalition of competitive programmers through rigorous training and teamwork so that VCU can climb higher in the ladder rankings of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. We encourage all students who enjoy programming, working in teams and learning more about computer science to get involved. Any other major with a strong foundation in math and problem solving are also welcomed as their background offers an invaluable advantage in the ACM Programming Contest.
The Association for Computing Machinery - Women’s chapter supports the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field. We aim to provide opportunities for members to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration and local Richmond meetups to network with women leaders in the tech industry. We also will host monthly coding workshops and tech talks led by members of Women Who Code, Richmond Women in Tech and VCU students.
The Biomedical Graduate Student Council (BGSC) at Virginia Commonwealth University was established to improve representation of biomedical graduate students by providing a direct point of communication between students and faculty. We aim to grow the program by promoting interdepartmental collaboration, and planning events focused on professional development, recruitment, and community outreach.

Competitive Coding Club - Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) - Student Chapter
CCC meets weekly to practice for the International Collegiate Programming Competition, held every fall (or spring since 2020). Students tackle programming problems from a variety of sources, including past competitions and through HackerRank and Kattis. These problems are great preparation for technical interviews. Past members have gone on to work at top companies like Amazon, Facebook and Google.

Cybersecurity Club at VCU
The Cybersecurity Club at VCU works to engage students in information security programs and prepare them for the information security field. The EGSA seeks to represent the interests of all graduate students in the College of Engineering.
The Engineering Student Council comprises elected representatives who are majoring in a College of Engineering program from each class of students. It serves as the advocacy body for the students in their interactions with the dean and faculty of the school.
Engineering World Health (EWH) is a brand new organization at VCU established to improve health care issues in developing countries. EWH provides the opportunity for students and members to partake in projects designed to tackle alarming medical issues while perfecting individual skill sets. Students and members can gain knowledge and experience with industrial design, social entrepreneurship, business planning, global ethics, etc. In order to accomplish these particular goals, EWH consists of several parts dealing with an engineering design competitions and trips abroad.
EWH allows students to experience comprehensively the way that healthcare is impacted in developing countries, from the "nuts and bolts" of device engineering to the physiological aspects of diseases and treatments and their social repercussions.
FIRST@VCU helps bring together alumni of FIRST Robotics, encourages mentoring of high/middle/elementary school FIRST teams, helps run local competitions, creates workshops and encourages students to pursue a technical field at VCU.
Girls Who Code at VCU aims to empower women in technology by providing a supportive environment for learning and collaboration. We offer coding workshops tailored to all experience levels, from beginners to advanced, helping students build essential programming skills. Through our networking events, members have the opportunity to connect with faculty, industry professionals, and peers to further their professional growth.

Ram Rocketry is a professional club for students interested in the study of Aerospace. Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885. Tau Beta Pi's members exhibit honor upon their alma mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering. There are now collegiate chapters at 242 US colleges and universities, 39 active alumni chapters in 16 districts across the country, and a total initiated membership of approximately 554,000.
Virginia Commonwealth University Tau Beta Pi, the Virginia Epsilon Chapter, is considered one of the newer chapters. We were founded on March 1, 2003. The chapter has continued to grow each year in numbers and in presence on campus. We continue to prosper with new members and leaders who each contribute to our chapter by bringing something different to the table. Students in our organization are either top eighth percent of the junior engineering class or top fifth of the senior engineering class.

WiCyS – Women in CyberSecurity
The VCU Women in Cyber Security Chapter’s main goals are to gather a community of students interested in learning more about cyber security and to offer support for women in the field. The club will help students to network with other students and industry leaders while also providing possible mentorship, support and learning opportunities. We are focused on the advancement of women in the cyber security field, however anyone is welcome and encouraged to join. Along with regular chapter meetings, members will have access to the resources and events of WiCyS such as internships, scholarships, REU’s and conferences. We aim to create a safe space for women and others to gather to have fun and learn about cyber security.
