Biography

Dr. Miloshevsky is an Associate Professor and the Director of Nuclear Engineering Program within the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He received his master's degree in physics from Belarus State University in Minsk and completed his Ph.D. training in physics at Heat and Mass Transfer Institute in Belarus, focusing on atomic, molecular, and plasma physics. Following this, he pursued postdoctoral research at Brandeis University in Boston, specializing in computational biophysics with an emphasis on modeling large protein structures and lipid bilayers. Dr. Miloshevsky participated in multidisciplinary projects within both laboratory and academic environments. He conducted research over several years with support from DTRA, NNSA, and DOE in the School of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University. He has collaborated with the JET and ITER teams as part of the EUROfusion Consortium, working on the theoretical analysis and computational modeling of macroscopic melt splashes and losses from divertor plates and wall materials in fusion devices. Dr. Miloshevsky was selected as a Marshall Faculty Fellow in the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Faculty Fellowship Program, where he worked on NASA projects focusing on materials degradation in the Jovian radiation environment, as well as electron deposition and charging analysis for the Europa Lander. He is currently conducting collaborative research within the DTRA’s Materials Science in Extreme Environments University Research Alliance and PNNL-led project on Accelerating Next-Generation EUV Lithography (ANGEL). Dr. Miloshevsky's area of expertise lies in Computational Physics, particularly concerning materials under extreme conditions, nuclear weapon effects, radiation-material and plasma-material interactions, fusion plasmas and plasma-material interactions in fusion devices, EUV nanolithography, radiative transfer in plasmas, warm dense matter, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Molecular Dynamics, Monte Carlo methods, and Hartree-Fock and DFT techniques. His research achievements have been extensively documented through numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, and conference proceedings.
