Engineers2B (E2B), is a program designed to provide small groups of students from grades 6-12 with the chance to visit the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering, to experience engineering and computer science. E2B also offers visits to schools to provide activities on site (having a classroom reserved for STEAM is preferred).

Engineers2B is your portal to the world of engineering and computer science: innovation, imagination and pragmatism. Middle and high school students interested in learning more about STEAM and improving their world are invited to our customized, hands-on experiences featuring aspects of engineering and computer science. Groups typically range from 10-20 students. Larger groups are welcome to visit as well but will not be able to do hands-on activities. A typical Engineers2B visit lasts three to four hours and includes engaging activities that help develop the student’s interest in STEAM.

Engineers2B customized experiences can include:

  • A visit to your school by VCU Engineering staff and faculty based upon school need(s).
  • Introduction to Engineering presentation (What is engineering?, What type of engineer are you?)
  • VCU College of Engineering guided tours
  • Participate with VCU College of Engineering staff and students in an engineering activity (Lego robotics programming, 3D drawing, simple circuit design, basic programming, and more)
  • A presentation pertaining to admissions for the College of Engineering
  • Hosted lunch at VCU's dining hall or local restaurant with current College of Engineering staff and students
  • Q and A panel session with VCU Engineering students
  • Other customizable opportunities depending on group interest(s)
  • **Virtual presentations and activities are also available.
