VCU Engineering establishes scholarship in memory of Cody Woodson

A celebration of life for Cody Woodson

The College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University has established a scholarship in memory of Cody Woodson, a computer science major who died April 5.

Woodson, a senior computer science student, was a celebrated teaching assistant and tutor whose mentorship uplifted many. The new scholarship will help honor, and perpetuate, his commitment to the teaching mission of VCU Engineering’s Department of Computer Science.

“Cody was an exceptional person in so many ways. He exemplified the characteristics of a true teacher; he cared deeply for his students, putting in the time and effort to ensure that they understood the underlying concepts needed to succeed. He was a credit to his family and will be sorely missed by the entire VCU Engineering community,” said Barbara D. Boyan, Ph.D., the Alice T. and William H. Goodwin, Jr. Dean of VCU Engineering.
