Michael Friedman, Ph.D., receives young investigator award

Friedman ORS Award

Michael Friedman, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has won an Alice L. Jee award from the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS).

The award for young investigators will help Friedman attend the ORS 48th International Musculoskeletal Biology Workshop from July 25 to 28, 2019, in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Friedman, whose research focuses on effects of genetic variation on the musculoskeletal system, is a member of the lab directed by Henry J. Donahue, Ph.D., the Alice T. and William H. Goodwin Jr. Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

“This award will help improve my training by learning about cutting edge musculoskeletal research,” Friedman said. “Attending the meeting will also help me network with some of the world leaders in my field of research. Thanks to Dr. Henry Donahue and all the members of the B.E.S.T. lab at VCU for helping me win this award!”
