RICHMOND, Va. (June 21, 2018) – Hyperloop at VCU, the student team competing in Elon Musk’s 2018 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition finals, will unveil its self-propelled transport pod vehicle to the Richmond community before it ships to California for the July competition.

The unveiling will take place Tuesday, June 26, at 6 p.m. in the Qimonda Atrium of the College of Engineering East Hall, 401 W. Main St.

Hyperloop at VCU is part of an elite group of 20 teams selected internationally to advance to the final round of this summer’s Hyperloop competition. The SpaceX-sponsored event challenges university teams to design and build the best transport pod for Elon Musk’s proposed high-speed ground transportation system — the Hyperloop.

The VCU team — part of the Vertically Integrated Projects program within the VCU College of Engineering — comprises more than 40 students from across the university in the fields of engineering, business, arts and humanities and sciences.
